Fuel surcharges have been applied to various taxi services throughout the country, and this includes most taxi services. The reason that taxi cab companies have needed to apply fuel surcharges to their rates has to do with the costs of gas. Gasoline prices have, for most of this year, been among the highest that they have ever been. No one likes to pay the additional fee for what many consider should already be included in the ride. Unfortunately, this has been taking a very significant portion out of the profits of cab drivers. Many taxi cab services around the country that allowed the cab companies to implement a fuel surcharge due to the skyrocketing gas prices. Without the fuel surcharge being allowed, the companies and drivers were having a very difficult time showing a profit that was even reasonable, given the amount of time that was invested into the transport of passengers.
