Unique Trade Show Promotional Items

As a conference keynote speaker I have attended a lot of trade shows and picked up some neat promotional items from industry vendors.

Promotional items are expensive to produce and ship to convention venues. If they’re thoughtful and useful, people will keep them; if they aren’t they will be tossed in the trash. Most promotional items sport the organizations name on it as a great reminder of it’s products.

I was a generational speaker at an HR Leadership Conference where they hosted a panel discussing the factors that cause people to quit their jobs. All the typical morale busting qualities apply… you should quit your job when you feel a lack of respect and appreciation, when you can make more money elsewhere, when you hate your boss, etc.

Motivational Speakers Get Paid to Speak

I got a call from a medical centre in Kentucky from a gentleman organizing a health care conference. He asked me if I am a professional speaker and will I speak for free. I thought Hmm would you do a surgery for free? He explained he “hired” a motivational speaker last year and they agreed to speak for free. I inquired, well was he any good? He said, no but it was free so who cares?
